Is Laser Liposuction For You?  Liposuction is a common surgical procedure that thousands of people undergo each year, in a quest to rid themselves of excess body fat. Below, we will take a look at the new forms of liposuction, their safety and effectiveness.

Laser Assisted Liposuction

Laser assisted liposuction is the newest European technology, designed to reduce pain and swelling that is often associated with conventional liposuction treatment. Liposuction is the removal of excess body fat, using a suction tube that is placed into the body, then the fat is pumped out with a vacuum pump that is attached to the tubes. Laser liposuction works by using low energy waves onto the body part that is going to be worked on, these waves weaken the membranes of the cells that hold the fat. A small tube is inserted that sucks out the fat, using a much smaller incision than in conventional liposuction treatments. The laser is reset for pain relief, then again for anti-swelling. This helps to reduce the post operative discomfort that is often associated with convention liposuction methods. This method can be used on hips, thighs, knees, abdomen, and neck. This procedure is usually performed under a local anesthesia, and does not usually require any post operative pain medication.

Smart Laser Liposuction

Smart Laser Liposuction is also known as lunch time liposuction because it is the fastest liposuction treatment available. This procedure is done in the doctor's office or clinic, and is done under a local anesthetic. A small tube is placed under the skin, that contains a laser fiber. This tube is moved back and forth, delivering the laser's energy to the fat cells in the area to be treated, and the fluid from these cells are removed from the body with it's own natural waste elimination system. This laser causes blood vessels to coagulate, this results in less bleeding and swelling that is normally associated with liposuction procedures. The recovery time is much quicker with this method also, and is safer than traditional methods requiring general anesthesia. Patients typically return to normal activities such as work, within 24 hours of having the procedure.

The cost of a traditional liposuction procedure is usually around $6,000.00. This price includes one area and the cost of general anesthesia required for this procedure. The new Smart Laser Liposuction ranges from $3,000-4,000.00 an area. This is done with a local anesthesia.

Who Is a Candidate For Smart Liposuction?

Men and women who live an active healthy lifestyle, and exercise are likely to have the best results with this procedure. Exercise, combined with a healthy diet will yield the best results. People who are not candidates for Smart Liposuction would include those who are seriously overweight, as it is not recommended for morbidly obese patients.

Really, the best candidate for liposuction are those who can actively change their lifestyle and their eating habits to match the new form of their new body that they will achieve.  If you can motivate yourself to make the radical dietary changes that are necessary to maintain a healthy weight, then you are a good candidate for liposuction.  Likewise, you will need to be highly motivated enough to start a new exercise regiment of some sort and stick with it.  Doing so will ensure that you keep the weight off after your procedure is finished.

One of the biggest problems that people have with liposuction is that they use it as a quick fix with no real changes in their diet or their lifestyle.  This will not be sustainable in the long run and if you really want to change the way you look then you need to change the way you live as well.  Liposuction can be a great way to kick start this change but you have to get active and maintain that new look with a direct effort of your own.
