Dog Life Jacket

There are several factors to be considered when choosing a dog's life vest Among them are your dog’s comfort, an easy gripping strap for rescue, reflective strips, and the buoyancy they provide. With these thoughts in mind when carefully selecting a life saving vest for your dog are aspects to safe fun near and in the water.

First of all, ask yourself: does my dog even need a life jacket?  This will depend on what type of activity and environment you are going to have your dog in.  For starters you might take your dog and toss him into the water and see if he sinks or not.  If he does then he could benefit greatly from a life jacket.  But the issue is deeper than this and in some cases you will want your dog to have a life jacket not only for flotation but also for increased visibility.  In some situations you want to be able to easily spot your dog, even if the dog already knows how to swim.  In that case you will want a bright orange or yellow life jacket so that the dog is easy to spot.

Dog Life Jackets Provide Comfort

Depending on the fabric of the dog life jacket you choose to protect your pet in its water activities, the mesh underbelly fabric is preferable for the comfort of the dog because it is a breathable fabric that is designed for drainage as opposed to the neoprene, rubberized fabrics that are confining and promote uncomfortable chafing. The rubber, neoprene types of vests that do not allow air to circulate can also cause heat exhaustion, especially if worn on hot summer days as merely a precautionary measure while boating for hours when there may be no actual contact with water for very long periods of time.

Life Jacket for Dogs Provides Visibility

The reflective strips on life preserving dog vests provide visibility in the event that your pet is thrown overboard even in more serious situations such as squalls and boating accidents. They come in bright, neon colors that are difficult to be missed in the most treacherous waters for greater ease and faster response time in critical moments when finding your pet as quickly as possible can mean the difference between life and death. You wouldn’t think of taking your child out to sea for an afternoon excursion without a reflective vest so that you would be able to locate them easily in the event of such occurrences, and you should take as much care and concern that reflective, east to spot, vest strips are provided for your beloved pet as well.

Life Jackets for Dogs Provide Safety

Although people often assume that dogs just naturally know how to swim, this is not the case, and this false assumption can be the cause of an unnecessary drowning accident. Some breeds do not swim at all, and even within breeds that do have some instinctive proclivities toward swimming, some dogs just do not swim as well as others of the same breed. Depending on the severity of currents and other particular situations that can cause any dog to become unable to swim, the buoyancy of the life jacket you choose for your dog is one of its most important safety features. Two layers of flotation material provide your dog with the ultimate buoyancy for his protection against drowning. The handle on the top of the vest will allow you to easily capture your dog and bring him to safety.

Great video, my dogs have the same vest. I bought it at doggielifejackets.com and it is as good as she said in the video. It holds my dogs up so they don't have to work as hard. They seem to like the water a little more than before.
